Dope Friggin' Clean Versions.

it's Wednesday.

and starting today, it's the start of Wex's Wednesdays.

what that means is, every Wednesday (until i forget, go out of town, etc) i will be bring you a list of some sort to discuss. hip hop related, of course. it's like Letterman's top 10 list or whatever. but it doesn't have to be 10. hopefully, this will encourage some message-board-style conversation, debate, whateva whateva.

ok. so today's list is dedicated to dope clean versions. they're clean, but they still sound good. and you can play them around ya moms.

in no particular order.

1. "hip hop" - dead prez
2. "brooklyn zoo" - ol' dirty bastard
3. "nuthin but a g thang" - dr dre
4. "protect ya neck" - wu-tang clan
5. "players ball" - outkast

Ludacris on SNL

Did anyone see Ludacris on SNL last weekend? Neither did we. Leaving no stone unturned though, the HHK Staff sorted through the skits posted on Youtube and tried to find the funniest one. Sadly, they all were hurrendous so f**k SNL and enjoy this:

Israeli/Palestinian Rappers

I'ma assume all faithful hip-hop devotees are up on URB Magazine. They recently put out their excellent Conflict Issue which you should check out if you can find it, including this piece on hip-hop in Israel and Palestine. We like the writer.

Hip-Hop Album Sales in '06

If you're not a daily Coolfer reader, now is the time to start. Consistently great stuff on the music industry, including this post about the lack of successful hip-hop albums this year.

Hip Hop's Transformation Into A Singles and Ringtone Business

In related "It's Funny When It Happens To Them" news, Ron Artest sold a whopping, wait for it, 343 copies of his new album the first week. Way to go, Ron. With those numbers, you'll be booked for the County Fair in no time.

Some Jay-Z News to Start Your Day

You can check details of Kingdom Come here. And they have to be true if they're on a blog, right?

Also, this is ridiculous (in a good way):

Jay-Z Plans Eight City Tour in One Day (thx BV)

So should HHK follow in Jigga's footsteps and do an eight-city, one-day tour?? Would Diggedy welcome crowds in Dallas by announcing "W'sup Philly?!" Burning questions on a Friday morning.

Oh yeah, and HHK is going down Saturday night - Knitting Factory - 10 pm. No word yet if Wex is gonna spin "Workin' For the Weekend."
