A great day in Hip-Hop!
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five (Kid Creole, Cowboy, Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel, Mr. Ness, Raheim), who helped define hip-hop with tracks such as "The Message" and "White Lines," will become the first rap act to be inducted into the hall of fame, potentially opening the floodgates for others in coming years.
Van Halen, R.E.M., Patti Smith and The Ronettes will also be inducted.
A panel of 600 industry experts selected the five artists for induction at the annual ceremony, scheduled for March 12 in New York. "
