some new ones.

(this is going to be an action-packed post, so brace yourself)

hey hey hey...

so, we tend to get quite a few emails from people suggesting songs that they want to see added to our song list. most of which are great suggestions...

so, i thought this would be a good moment to give a little P.S.A. on how our song list works.

if you've been to the event, you know that this is NOT a karaoke event with a "karaoke machine" with a screen, the bouncing ball, and all that good stuff. our tracks come from the B-side's of 12 inch vinyl records. which means that there are several key determining factors that we have to deal with when adding songs to our list. the one that most impacts which songs are get added is very simple: can we obtain a correct, original, instrumental version of the song (like i said, most often on vinyl)? this task is easier said than done. many of the songs that are suggested, and other songs we would love to find, are simply out of print and very difficult and/or expensive to come by. we do our best to search out and purchase good, new songs for the event... but it indeed does leave some to be desired. if you want to help search out these instrumental versions, feel free to join me at A-1 Records, the Sound Library, or Turntable Lab on any given Sunday afternoon. I'll be there... wallet in hand.

speaking of adding new songs, new for this month:

Redman - I'll Bee Dat (can't WAIT for this to be performed... it's been on my wish-list for quite some time)
Dilated Peoples - Worst Comes to Worst (we needed some backpacker LA hip hop)
Rahzel - All I Know (hit single from hiphop's #1 beatboxer)
M.O.P. - Cold As Ice (the more mashoutposse on the list, the better!)

So, onwards. We've been able to get ahold of a handful of discounted tickets for this month's HHK on the Rocks Off Boat Cruise! To get the discount ($5 off each ticket!) go to THIS LINK and use the access code JIGGA (in all caps). Sssshh...

if you need any other info regarding the concert cruise, contact us.

thanks for listening,

dj wex.
