yes, i'm still alive.

look party people, i know wex wednesday's are now about as predictable as dennis rodman in 1994.... but life gets hectic, as we all know, and dammit, wex is just doing his best.

today's discussion is going to focus on the rides. i know a lot of us new yawkas rely on the iron horse to get around... but try to relate here. i remember back in my high school/college days, some of my favorite moments of life happened in my car. :) get your mind out of the gutter.

i really enjoyed driving over to the music store, buying that new album i've been waiting for, and poppin it in the deck - only to roll around for an hour soaking it all in. that's the one thing i really miss about not having a car. damn.

my fav songs dedicated to the whip:

1. Benz or Beamer - Outkast
2. Boomin System - LL Cool J
3. 5 Star Hooptie - J-Zone
4. Let Me Ride - Dre
5. Sittin on Chrome - Masta Ace

bump these.

see you friday, kids.

wex.

thank g-d for a new thread.
WLWW - we love wex's wednesdays.

i realize that this is a bit corny but i really did dig that ride wit me joint by nelly, especially after coincidentally happening upon the filming of the video when visiting univesral studios in LA. i'm sitting there in the tourist train car thinking hmmm that car parked near the psycho house looks just like the nelly car from the country grammar video. then a few weeks later the ride wit me video came out and i had one of those moments like when the old dude in the coming to america barbershop scene tells the joke about the soup w/o the spoon and gets to the punchline ACHHA!!! (what do you know from funny)

Pharcyde: Officer

Not exactly dedicated to a car, but entirely set in one. Brilliant PE tribute (and Chuck D impersonation by Fatlip!) too, off the top. Oh Pharcyde. We barely got a chance to love you before you disintegrated and phaded.

"Put it in reverse,
Into first, then dispersed,
See and from that very moment on
My day got worse!"

Jeep Ass N#gga - Masta Ace Inc.

My favorite by a long stretch. And not that sucky "Born to Roll" version either. The original. Crazy bass banging, blowing out your Bazooka subwoofers.

"We Like The Cars That Go Boom" -- did Le Tigre cover that song?

Beastie Boys - "High Plains Drifter" - kind of a car song. Not really a car song though. But sort of a car song. Definitely a cool song.

"A long-distance from my girl and I'm talking on the cellular /
She said that she was sorry and I said 'yeah, the hell you were!'"

le trigre was involved but i couldn't say what their part was from a technical standpoint. i'll leave that to pros like you rdj.

You both got it a little twisted on "Cars That Go Boom." L'Trimm did that song and the chorus said "We're Tigra and Bunny and we like the boom."

Alright, so what are y'all's picks for best NON-hip-hop car song?

Lil' Deuce Coupe?
Paradise By The Dashboard Light?
Who's Gonna Drive You Home?
Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car?

Non hip-hop:
"Drive My Car" - The Beatles
"I Can't Drive 55" - Sammy Haagar

And two classics to add to the Hip-Hop list:

"Back Seat" - LL Cool J (The man had us all talking about "swingin' 'eps". . . or maybe it was just me?)

"You Remind Me of Something" - R. Kelly

One of the most ridiculous songs ever. . .
"You remind me of my jeep, I wanna ride it. . . girl you look just like my cars, I wanna wax it."
Hahahahaha! Love that R. . . he's sucha character!

To take it another step with the R. as I believe he's a musical genius (despite his indigressions)... "Ignition (Remix)"

No more hopin' and wishin'
I'm about to take my key 'n'
Stick it in da ignition
So baby gimme dat "Toot toot"
And lemme gi' ya that "Beep beep"
Runnin' her hands through my fro'
Bouncin' on twenty fo's
