You wanna front?
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?
Thanks to EVERYONE who came out and helped us christen what we hope will become our new home for HHK (next installment is September 21st!)..
As for a recap of Thursday, where does one start?
The ladies, as always, jammed like a tech with correct techniques.. They set the tone for the evening, holding down five of the first six performances.. Aja got things started with a "Story To Tell" followed by Aris performing "Humpty Dance", and Damali making Dana Owens proud with her version of "Ladies First".. After Lev and Henry dropped "Ya Mama" - Joanne, Karen and Jess "Cold Rocked The Party" while the Dynamic Duo waxed poetic on "Lost Ones".
Next up? I mean, wow.... Wex dropped that oh so familiar water faucet beat, and none other than Jeru the motherphuckin Damaja took to the stage to rock "Come Clean".. After acknowledging his unfair homecourt advantage (it is his song after all), Jeru fulfilled a life long fantasy by killing Audio Two's "Top Billin".. Just an amazing moment...
And that was all just the beginning... Aden (happy birthday), Allan, Russell, Brandon, and what seemed like 95 other people burned through "Dwyck", "Bucktown", "Scenario", "Cream", and "Ante Up" throughout the evening.. Not a bad set list now that I'm looking at it... Toya and co. did their thing, moves included, on "Shoop".. Lisa, Tammi (happy birthday) and Crystal took us back with a little "Bonita Applebaum", and Bonita's distant cousin "Ms. Fat Booty" was blessed by Denise..
Emily...What can I say.. You did Nasir proud with "The World Is Yours".. Paul also did Illmatic
justice with "It Ain't Hard To Tell".. Kevin, Ryan, Gusto, and Steve (good luck upstate) made sure Ready To Die was represented lovely with "Unbelievable", "Warning", and "The What"..
Gold medal for the evening had to go to Charlie.. Absolutely MURDERED "Gimme Some More".. I'm hoping someone got that on tape... If that wasn't enough, Charlie stayed on stage to provide the beatbox for Lyrical Arsonists RIDICULOUS rendition of "Lesson Part 2".. Just a tremendous sequence.. Not to be outdone, Dan and Audra blew the roof off the Knitt with Dan being the Doug E to Audra's Ricky D on "La Di Da Di".. Didn't see it coming.. Want to see it again.
Robert Downey Jr.. "Triumph".. All by himself.. No lyrics.. To have seen it is to believe it.. All I can say is welcome back dude, and I'm sorry about the '94 Stanley Cup.
Alright.. It's 3:30am, and I think I might have covered about 1/4 of the evening.. In no particular order : Darryl, I know you're from Queens, but you and Danielle truly are "Brooklyn's Finest".. Dashaun killed "How Many MC's" (with Jeru as his hype man no less!).. Aja, very "Funky For You".. Scott, bless you for picking "TROY".. It should be done every month.. Rockia and Paul, your late night "Children's Story" was just what the doctor ordered..
Can't forget Sonya with "Next Episode", Jonas on "Hip Hop", Suspect dropping "Art of Storytellin' Part 2", Bootylicious with "Rump Shaker", and Dr.Phat with "Guilty Conscience"..
OHHHHHHH.. And Wex kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilled it on "Mona Lisa"....
Thanks to Rick for the photography as always.. Pics will be up shortly..
Start practicing for September!

siiick show on thursday. keep this up and you guys are going to need hammerstein to fit the crowd.
Best karaoke experience....ever. Great song selection, great crowd, and no having to sit through drunken folks thinking they're on an American Idol audition.
This is definitely going to become a monthly trek for me. Kinda wish though you had pics of my "It Ain't Hard To Tell" performance. Hehe.
Anyone want to do "Electric Relaxation" with me next time?
So I didn't get do Talib, but I got to see him and Hi-Tek live so now I have some inspiration.
Next month is gonna be serious...
Had a blast, and can't wait for next month. There's gotta be a way for me to do Raw by BDK...
