Weekend At Diggedy's - Volume 32

Let's begin this edition of Weekend At Diggedy's on a positive note :

Happy Birthday to HHK veteran and friend, Kevy Kev. Have a shot on us. Please get a receipt from the bartender. You can validate your shot receipt either at the HHK / Rare Form extravaganza 9/28 featuring DJ EVIL DEE. Or, at our very last Hip Hop Karaoke of 2007 at the Knitting Factory on 11/2. Your choice.

That's right folks. It's down to the final 2. That's 2 more songs to capture on a camera phone and upload to youtube. 2 last chances to bring the house down. 2 last chances to say that special something, to a special someone in the crowd, through Hip Hop song. Are we really that far away from an HHK onstage proposal? Food for thought.

Any way you slice it, I hope to see EVERYONE at those next 2 events.

And on that note, on to the choice cuts for this Friday, September 21st...

Slim Cutta Calhoun feat Andre from Outkast - "It's Alright"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/377312642c35e6/

So here's the deal. This tracks a few years old. On the surface, it's basically just a fast food, good for a few listens track. Which isn't a bad thing. It's just not something that you'll see on any top 500 lists. However, it's worth a download, cause Andre murders the track. And I know you kids love your Andre.

Smif N Wessun - "Get Up"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/3773235957e938/

Ok. This was on one of the Lyricist Lounge albums. Am I wrong, or is this song bananas? I'm guessing I'm wrong, cause no one has ever pulled me aside and said "Yo Diggs.. We need to discuss something. Did you ever hear that Smif N Wessun track "Get Up"? It's bananas." I don't know what to say. I'm not a violent person in any way, shape, or form. I hear this track, and it makes me want to just start beating the sh*t out of grandma's or something. Disclaimer : To all grandmothers reading my blog, I do not really want to beat the sh*t out of you (whether I've listened to this song or not). I love grandmothers. It was more of a dig at myself. I'm weak. I'm not a fighter. You're probably the only opponent I have a chance against. Not saying I'm a lock to win. But come on. Even you have to admit that it would be tough to take me. You're old. Not as agile as you once were. I have a long reach. That's all I'm saying. Good luck. See you on the streets.

PMD - "Straight From Da Heart"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/377339518b900b/

Another older track. Yeah, yeah, I get it. I'm an EPMD fan too. The two of them just don't sound right on their own. But............. There's always been something about Parrish that made me still want to cop his solo LP's. There's just something very NY about it. It's like construction worker, bring your lunch pale to work rap. I don't have to think too hard. I just get some straight up fisherman hat sh*t. This track was produced by Kut Master Kurt, and is crrrrrrrrrazy. Stop f*cking around, click the link, and DOWNLOAD IT!

Alright people.

Be safe this weekend.

Say no to drugs.

A lesson I learned the hard way about Weekend at Diggedy's: When Diggedy says DOWNLOAD IT, if you like the track, DOWLOAD IT!

I had that Jay-Z and Bleek track, "Marcyville" in my head all last week and I thought, "Thank god for Weekend at Diggedy's. I can just go get it from there." After digging through the archives, I found out the hard way that tracks aren't up forever.

So I'm gonna try to grab those 50 and Biz tracks from last week before it's too late. And the lesson here today, kids, is DOWNLOAD IT!!!

(What's poppin' off in 'Bama, Wex?)
