Rhymefest at HHK

One of the other guys (Not to be confused with "Other guy") will be up with a recap and the announcement of the winner of the Biggie contest shortly. In the interim, some of you may remember Rhymefest fighting his way through "Brooklyn Zoo" at the 2006 Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. Last night, the rapper made a surprise appearance last night and told HHK he's spent the last 18 months locked in his spot, 23 hours a day, studying the lyrics to conquer the song. Check it:

Yo Doni! You should've used the "I was stuck in the line @ 12am, and they wouldn't let me in" line!!

I still can't believe that there was a line to get in 2 hours after doors opened. . .

HHK is most DEFINITELY back!!

I didn't want the night to end. . . April 4th can't get here fast enough!

Oh my DAMN. Folks, I really wish I coulda made it out to this. I missed hangin' w/ all u guys.

The shitty weather from Fri night into Sat made my allergies come outta nowhere and smack me around my apt all day. I looked, sounded and felt like a 70-year old 2-pack-a-day smoker. After a nap, I woke up @ 9pm I decided that there was no way I'd be able to shower, change, get on the train and make it in enough time to get a decent spot on the list. Plus my song would prob be gone already. Now cats are talkin' about there was a line outside 'til 12am? Well at least I know to get there dumb early next month.

This clip...I dunno what's funnier: Digs' towel being treated like a redheaded stepchild or both Digs' and Fest's exuberance after yelling "YOU CAN SUCK MY DIIIIIIICK" into the mics.

Yeah, I think I'm starting to have a crush on Rhymefest. Also a highlight: Pancho's "Roc Boys." I KNEW that was the something new he was promising. Mazel tov, it's a celebration bitches!

Pancho's back.

HHK is back.

It was a great, great, great night. My favorite moment was K-Dot and Elizabeth (with Mia) rocking Mo $$$ Mo Probs with MATCHING BOOM-BOX BELTS.

Rhymefest was, as I told him to his face, beyond ill. And his Michael Jackson-themed mixtape is awesome.

Personally I love "I can't say that but he can." You could write a whole cultural studies grad thesis on that one moment.

Yo, I've been wondering by the way: how does anyone ever know when the beat's going to come in on that tune? It always catches me by surprise.

i think that i'm going to start a secondary marketplace where sign up slots can be bought and sold. membership may be had for an annual fee of $19.99, and transaction fees are only 8 cents per trade. however an additional $5 per year gets you unlimited free transactions for the year. please provide indications of interest through this website.

On both of those counts, I quote the title of a Lucinda Williams song:
