Weekend at Diggedy's - Volume 56
"Let's go out there like a bunch of crazed dogs baby!"
- Lawrence Taylor.
There can be only one #56 people! http://youtube.com/watch?v=m7Z7E4c-684
The man tied with Phil Simms for my favorite Giant of all time. Yeah I know, that's like saying "OMG MICHAEL JORDAN IS LIKE MY FAVORITE BASKETBALL PLAYER".
But when you're 8 years old and get to watch those 2 play, cot damn.
Anyway, this week's WAD is dedicated to tonights blockbuster show at the Nokia Theater in Times Square..
The headliner...
EPMD - "Rampage"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/11099310ec7fee55/
Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiight be my favorite EPMD song. Hard to choose just one. But when this beat comes on, I just want to grab my d*ck cause I love hip hop. I would hope you have this already, but if you don't, DOWNLOAD IT!
Before them... We gonna break.. We gonna bash with New Jeru''s own..
MOP feat Treach - "Brooklyn, Jersey Get Wild"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/11099547c32c6d15/
Ok.. It's an MOP song. But Treach is on it. I love it. And it's my blog post!! Download it!
The undercard.. Also hailing from Jersey...
Lords of the Underground - "Tic Toc"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/11103076849008be/
This is off of the Lords second album, Keepers of the Funk. I was hoping to find the "What I'm After" remix with Keith Murray, but no dice. So take this. Download it. And make it yours....
And first up, but certainly a headliner in his own right...
OC - "Ozone"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/11100825fde73040/
This is an old, dirty, crapola sound quality demo from the good ol' days. But the track is en fuego. Flames. Hotness. DOWNLOAD IT!
Have a great weekend.
Catch me at the Nokia tonight hanging from the balcony.
PEACE!

Weekend at Diggedy's - Volume 55
The Gary Reasons of this blog sh*t.
WHAT!
I can finally say it's a beautiful Friday, and meaning it in terms of weather. It is glorious outside here in NYC. I feel like going to Central Park, throwing on some instrumentals, and blessing the world with the classics. Believe it or not, we did that a couple of years ago on some HHK guerilla style steez. Just a little boom box, and a lot of dreams. Nothing like performing "Choice Is Yours" and having people stare at you like you''re "special".
I had a request for this week's blog. Van, aka Mr.Vantastic, aka Van Among Men, aka Never Van Never Will is going on vacation. And he said "Diggedy. Diggs. Can you hit me off with some tracks that I can put in the ipod, and throw on while I'm laying on the beach, cooling out, relaxin, sipping on a drink with some fruit in it?"
Here you go Van I Kick It , and here you go world. You should DOWNLOAD IT too.
Don't stop the music.
The choice cuts for this Friday, April 18th...
Tha Alkaholiks feat Diamond D - "The Next Level"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/107506212c60b344/
How much do I love this track? Let me count thee ways. This was off of their second album, Coast II Coast, and I mean, I can't say enough about how much I jocked this track back in high school. I had Diamond's verse memorized probably after the second listen. The beat is just Diamond bananas. Here's the video for a nice little walk down memory lane : "http://youtube.com/watch?v=VXrTs3ZNM5E". Nothing like your mom walking into your room to tell you dinner's ready while you're rapping along to "the safest way to have sex is right between the titties". Download it!
Coolio feat J Ro and Billy Boy - "I Remember"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/10750981586d73cf/
Coolio on WAD? What is the world coming to???? Listen man (and woman), if you don't know this track, give it a run. If you don't like it, I will give you your 4:47 back with a freestyle that you can record and play for all your friends. This track is delicious goodness that Van will be cooling back on his beach chair, smiling, aviator glasses on, looking up at the sun saying "damn it feels good to be a Vanster". DOWNLOAD IT!
King Tee - "Dippin"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/10751209ffbb94f1/
Yeah that's right. I posted this before. But if this is not a SUMMER, BEACH, DRIVING WITH THE TOP DOWN TRACK, WTF IS PEOPLE?! You know you didn't download it last year. And when I say "last year", I literally mean "last year". I checked. I posted this April 20th, 2007. What did I have to say about it back then?
Paul. You know who you are. Ill Street Blues Paul. Where are my King Tee cd's you keep telling me you're going to burn for me??? Anyway, from the limited amount of songs I have heard from him (Tee, not Paul), this is my favorite. I always associate it with the summer, and what better day than the one we are currently having to drop it on the blog. Once Sheep's Meadows opens up, be on the lookout for Wex and myself camped out with a football, some Heinekens, and this song blasting from the ipod (before Wex says "my turn" and plays some backpacker shit). If cops are reading this blog, and looking to bust us for open alcohol in the park, we're the ones in the matching Hammer shirts. Btw, I just saw a FUNNY ass clip of Joan Rivers on the red carpet approaching MC Hammer for an interview and calling him "MJ Hammer". Love you Joan. You left your mascara at my crib. FYI.
Well, I never got the cd's from Paul. The day today is much like the one last year at this time. And I'm still f*cking Joan Rivers.
Have a good weekend!

Weekend At Diggedy's - Volume 54
And I say New York City!!
Just like that, it's Friday again. What are your weekend plans? Catching up on your soaps? Visiting your local pub or "restaurant type places" (quick, someone tell me what movie that's from)? I'm gonna do some relaxing Friday and Sunday. I want to sit around in my pajama pants, completely unshaven (wait, I have a beard already), ketchup stains on my white t-shirt, with Mrs. Diggedy saying one of the following two things :
"ARE WE JUST GOING TO SIT AROUND ALL DAY?????"
or
"NO WAY. YOU'RE NOT WATCHING THAT IN HERE. THAT'S WHAT WE HAVE THE SPORTS ROOM FOR. I WANT TO PLAY LEISURE SUIT LARRY OR WATCH FRASIER OR SOME OTHER TYPE OF CRAPPY MOVIE OR SHOW I WATCH"
Yep.
That's my weekend.
And I love it.
Let's get busy with the choice cuts for this Friday, April 11th :
Rottin Razkals - "Oh Yeah"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/103916109b47a630/
Big ups to K-Dot on this one. He sent me the mp3 several months ago. I have never heard another song from them, but I always fancied this one. Not on some "THIS IS THE TRUTH, HOW COULD YOU SLEEP ON THIS???" type of steez. On some this is a fresh, typical mid 90's type of jam. They were down with Naughty and came out on their label. DOWNLOAD IT!
People Under The Stairs - "San Francisco Knights"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/103919808f3af279/
PUTS are a west coast act that's been doing it for a minute. This was the first track of theirs I heard many moons ago. It is nitro fresh with a side order of dopeness. Just some good ol' laid back beats and rhymes. You should download it. No, really, you should DOWNLOAD IT!
Pete Rock & CL Smooth - "CL Strikes Again"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/10392318c98552f1/
Don't think this was ever released on anything. I love the fact that the sound quality sounds like there's actually a cassette tape in my computer rather an mp3. The kids know I heart some Peter and Corey. Please to enjoy.
Have a great weekend.

thanks to the party people.
thank you to everyone that came out to Friday's edition of HHK at the Knitting Factory!
we had another full house of good vibes and good times. some memorable performances went down, for sure.
newmie (2nd round ko), diggedy (mama said), and me (the champ) rocked the first ever 'boxing medley' intro ... and THAT was fun stuff.
the photos from Friday night will be up on the site shortly - stay tuned.
ALSO - be sure to mark your calendars for the next HHK event on May 2. it's called "OFF THE BOOKS" and is a collaboration with our good friends at Rare Form. it's HHK in Brooklyn (at Southpaw), with a special guest DJ set from DJ Parler.
whenever HHK & Rare Form meet up at Southpaw, good times are had - so be there:
thanks ya'll-

HHK IS TONIGHT AND WAD VOLUME 53 IS NOW
Yes.. Tonight is the latest installment of HHK.. All the info's below.. Come through.. Wear something nice.. Business casual maybe? Let people know that you have a game plan, but you can let your hair down on the weekend too.
The HHK crew have a wonderful opener planned. So get there on time to watch it. Enjoy it. Embrace it. Cheer it. Sing along to it. High five one another in the crowd. Purchase a Heineken. While you're getting there on time, get there for DJ Wex's set. It starts at 10pm. It's always glorious. Every week he'll throw in a song that I love that is his way of saying "Hey Diggedy, this one's for you". He doesn't have to say it on the mic. It's unspoken. Not to mention I don't think the crowd would get hype hearing "HEY DIGS! IT'S FOR YOU! DJ WEX! ASTORIA CLAN! DJ WEX! ASTORIA CLAN"
Alright people. Enough of the rambling. On to the choice cuts for this Friday, April 4th.
Today, I bring you, the kids edition.
Chi Ali - "Roadrunner" (Puberty Mix)
http://www.zshare.net/audio/1004982443008249/
I'm generally not a fan of child rappers, but there have been albums and tracks through the years that have made their way onto my rotation. This track is not off of Chi's first (and only) album, The Fabulous Chi Ali. The original one was a dope, mellow cut produced by The Beanuts with an appropriate cartoon sample. I guess as they were putting it out as a single, Chi's voice went Peter Brady on everyone, so they flipped what is probably the only "puberty remix" in the history of music. Tribe made the beat, and the song is bananas. Here's the video for it : http://youtube.com/watch?v=pfN_qEkXc3w . Wow. Did they know how to make a video back then or what? I keep waiting for MC Skat Kat to pop up in it. Anyway, you know the drill. Download it!
Da Youngstas - "Mad Props"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/1005069315b49b01/
I don't know. Were Da Youngstas just a Northeast thing? Any way you slice it, they always popped up with a single or video that you just had to say "Hey, this isn't bad." Maybe it was Marley Marl's production, which on this track, is ridiculous. I wonder what the hell these guys are up to today. This track is 14 years old. So wild. I listen to this song as if they're still kids, when in reality, they're my age. Anyway, download it!
Shyheim - "I Declare War"
http://www.zshare.net/audio/1005085985bf58ac/
Ok. So Shyheim was all grown when this song dropped off of Manchild, but the albums I have of his from when he was a kid are on a different computer. But he was a kid once. More importantly, a kid rapping. My favorite track off of Manchild was actually "Furious Anger" with Big L, but I have already posted that in an early WAD volume. This track is fresh, and you should give it a listen.
Alright people.
That's it, that's all.
